An oddity for Headway, even after all these years
Ever since its founding in 1977 and throughout all of its more than 40 years of history, we have made an innumerable amount of guitars, yet one of the rares and more scarcely produced type of guitar in our catalog is 12-string guitars.
Up to now, we have produced but a handful of them, and all of them as custom orders, now for the first time a batch of 6 of them are coming.
Using as a base the 12-string model Momose created during the summer of 2019, this new ATB addition is ready to rock.
Since it is a 12-string model, you need to have 12 machine heads on the headstock, which makes creating a proper headstock and neck very challenging.
When making such models, the craftsmen sometimes get frustrated saying stuff like “If you change the neck angle you have to redesign everything!” so they had to pay extra attention to details while making this model.
The nut width is 48 mm, which balances the ease of gripping and the pitch allowance of each string.
We went for a scalloped Advanced rear shift bracing - layout for this model to maximize the reverberation, overtones, and sound spread.
We also went with the configuration we are the most used to, being a Sitka spruce top, an Indian rosewood side and back, and an African mahogany neck, this way we could reduce the margin of error to a minimum
