Biography
Benoit Martin ベノワ・マーティン
カナダのケベック州の小都市、シェルブルックに生まれる。トロンボーン奏者兼ビッグバンドの編曲家であった祖父から音楽を学び、11歳の時にギターの演奏を始める。若い内から音楽製作やレコーディングに興味を持ち、14歳の時にはMTRを使用して地元バンドのデモを製作していた。シェルブルックの大学で音楽を専攻した後、バークレー音楽学校でオーディオエンジニアリングを学んだ。
2005年からはバンドリーダーやギタリストとしてシルク・ドゥ・ソレイユに参加し、Saltimbanco、Corteo、 Joyà、Totemなどの演目において世界中を旅しながら演奏している。
また作曲家として、『Hawaii-5-0』、『ナショナル・ジオグラフィック』などのTV番組や、『ファミリー・アゲイン/離婚でハッピー!?なボクの家族』や『I.T.』などの映画に音楽を提供している。
Benoit was born in Sherbrooke QC, a small city in Canada. He started learning music with his grandfather who was a trombone player and big band arranger. Benoit started playing guitar at age 11. Very young he showed interest for music production and audio recording. At age 14, he was operating a multi-track recording system and was producing demos for local bands.
Benoit studied music at College de Sherbrooke and audio engineering at Berklee Music School.
Since 2005, Benoit has been working as a band leader and guitar player for Cirque du Soleil. He performed all around the world with the shows Saltimbanco, Corteo, Joyà, and Totem. We can hear his original music in TV shows like Hawaii-5-O (CBS), Wicked Tuna (National Geographic), and movies like A.C.O.D. (with Jessica Alba), I.T. (with Pierce Brosnan) and Puncture Wound (aka Certain Justice).
