A TF model with a passionate fanbase among the electric basses of the Bacchus family. With a big cutaway that allows you to comfortably play all the way up to the 24th fret and an overall compact body that gives it its unique silhouette. These are for the most part the features that make it a popular model.
The advantage of 24 frets
When talking about 24-frets basses some people ask “Isn’t that too much?” and just dismiss it as an option without much thought.
By expanding the cutaway greatly, it becomes a compact body shape that sets it apart from traditional basses. This reduces the weight of the instrument itself, making it easier for smaller people to handle. Don't you think that the unique body shape is also charming?
And of course, you will be able to do phrasing in the higher frets more easily. Even if you are not a fast-playing player, if you can move your left hand with a high level of leeway, the idea of phrasing will become way more appealing and accessible.
Not only is the cutaway deep, but the heel cut at the joint is also slanted.
If you only think about the TF-5 in terms of using all 24 frets or not you would be ignoring many of the strong points of this model. Keep in mind that in order to facilitate playing all the 24 frets the overall quality of the instrument and its construction goes up
Equipped with a Aguilar OBP-2 preamp
The onboard pre-amplifier "OBP-2" made by Aquilar, an amazing piece of hardware, is the pre-amplifier of choice for this model. A 2-band EQ that works effectively for boosts/cuts about 16 dB around 6.5 KHz on the Treble side. Bass boosts/cuts around 40Hz by about 18dB. You can check the preamplifier unit and the battery in the control wiring by opening the screwed panel on the back of the body. You can use one 9V battery, but it is recommended to connect two batteries and use 18V to ensure you always have enough juice to power up everything without a worry.
The product specs have been refined based on the feedback of many professional bassists, and you can perform amazing pieces by going up to the 24th fret with ease.
Pickup
The TF model has a soap bar type humbucker pickup. Using a urethane coil for the ceramic bar magnet, the resistance value is 14.6K, and it is designed for a clear sound with the powerful feeling of a humbucking pickup.
Workshop Deviser Guitars
We at Deviser guitars are the ones in charge of the assembly process of this model, emplying the help of our highly skilled craftsmen here in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture.
We asked one of our craftsmen that gently and carefully work every single one of these models about their opinion on 5-string basses.
Compared to the 4-string basses, the 5-string models need special care to be taken when fitting the frets. The addition of the 5th string changes the balance between the fingerboard and each string, so the setting will inevitably become tighter. There is no change in the "polishing so that the fret heads are aligned" approach we have for every model, but we are working with added precision in mind on these models.
